Coconut Oil Supreme Starter Kit

Coconut Oil Starter Kit
The starter kit contains the following:
  • 1 lb. (454 grams) (1/2 liter) of Coconut Oil Supreme™
  • (1) 1/2 liter tulip shape Weck canning jar which is ideal for kitchen use; it is attractive and provides ready access to the oil since the glass cover can be used without the rubber seal or clips (shipped empty).
  • 1 rubber seal. We use the seal to prevent breakage during shipment and it is not needed for coconut oil storage. (In everyday use I use the jar without the rubber seal or clips where the glass lid basically acts as a dust cover.)
  • 2 stainless steel clips.

Simply place the plastic bottle (made of PETE, like the bottles used for water) in a bowl of warm water to melt the oil, remove the cap and pour the oil into your jars. DO NOT MICROWAVE IN THE BOTTLE ! Your decorator containers can then be refilled as needed.

Since coconut oil is lighter than water (density is .92 compared to 1 for water) we have opted to provide coconut oil based on weight rather than volume. This is one case where the old saying "a pint is a pound the world around" doesn't hold true. A pint of coconut oil actually weighs only 14.72 ounces as opposed to 16 ounces for a pint of water. The oil is packaged in 1 lb. bottles which are convenient for storage and also for refilling other containers for daily use.

*A note about our packaging. The PETE bottle is intended as a storage container for the oil. We chose this packaging for several reasons: 1) it is a hard plastic with no "plastic" odor which would migrate into the oil; 2) it is light weight and very resistant to breakage; 3) it is low in cost; 4) it has a tamper-evident closure. A wide mouth jar made of an acceptable plastic would greatly increase the cost which would have to be passed along to the customer and we would end up selling jars and oil instead of just oil. Although this packaging requires an additional step before using the oil we feel it is the best choice for the intended purpose and it allows us to provide the oil to our customers at the lowest possible cost.
